Since her first show (Hamlet with Alan Bates at Nottingham Rep in 1966) Deirdre Clancy has designed 156 new productions for theatre, opera and ballet.
For 29 she designed both set and costumes. For the remainder she has collaborated as costume designer with a number of set designers. Over half of these collaborations have been with just 9 other designers of whom John Gunter on 46 productions, Ralph Funicello 12, Hayden Griffin 11, Tom Pye 6, Mikael Melbye & Bill Dudley 5 each, and the late John Bury 2.
Similarly, Clancy has worked with a total of 46 directors in all 3 mediums. Of these productions 36 have been operas with Ian Judge, 17 plays with Peter Gill, 13 with Bill Bryden, 12 operas /plays with Adrian Noble, 8 with Bill Gaskill, 7 plays each with Danny Boyle & Anthony Page, 4 with Christopher Morahan, 3 with Lindsay Posner & Ron Daniels, and 2 with Sir Peter Hall, Sir Richard Eyre, & David Pountney.
